National Issues

The Charlotte Regional Realtor® Association works closely with the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) on issues affecting Realtors®. NAR gives Realtors® several resources to learn more about issues and to communicate with our elected officials

Calls for Action
Realtors® have strength in numbers. With more than 1 million Realtors® nationwide, NAR uses its Calls for Action to mobilize thousands of
Realtors® to communicate with Congress. Sign the pledge to join the Realtor®
Party and support Realtor® Calls for Action.

Realtor® Action Center
The Realtor® Action Center has information about current issues, and provides access to many tools for Realtors® and local associations.

Legislative and Regulatory Issues
NAR has an extensive library of issues important to Realtors®. Go to NAR Research for background information and statuses on issues before our elected officials.

Homebuyer Tax Credit
In 2008, Congress enacted a $7,500 tax credit designed to be an incentive for first-time homebuyers to purchase a home. The credit was designed as a mechanism to decrease the over-supply of homes for sale.

For 2009, Congress increased the credit to $8,000 and made several additional improvements. This revised $8,000 tax credit applies to purchases on or after Jan. 1, 2009 and before Dec. 1, 2009.
